Press Release – 20th July 2013
Published in The Alliance Journal (Ed. 43) from The Alliance of Private Sector Practitioners
From today, patients will be able to choose a Foot Health Practitioner belonging to a register vetted and approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. The Alliance’s voluntary register has been accredited under a new scheme set up by the Department of Health and administered by an independent body, accountable to Parliament.
Practitioners on the Alliance’s register will be able to display the Accredited Register quality mark, a sign that they belong to a register which meets the Professional Standard Authority’s robust standards.
A spokesperson for the Alliance said:
“The quality mark will give extra piece of mind for anyone looking for a Foot Health Practitioner, letting them know that anyone who holds the mark is committed to high standards. The Alliance is pleased to offer the quality mark to practitioners that meet the far reaching standards of our register, as approved by the Professional Standards Authority.”
Harry Cayton, Chief Executive of the Professional Standards Authority said:
“We are pleased to accredit the Alliance’s Foot Health Practitioner Register. Bringing Foot Health Practitioners into a broad framework of assurance is good for patients, service users and the public and is the best way to promote quality. The scheme offers enhanced consumer protection to anyone looking for health and social care services and gives practitioners the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment.”
